In the past nine years, Iris has been part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team helping patients who suffer from chronic pain. She evaluates each participant prior to entering EBFR to determine baseline condition appropriateness for participation, and to set functional goals for the physical reconditioning sessions. She believes in helping her patients understand the importance of movement and postural control.
With education and specific exercises the participants are empowered to assume responsibility for increasing their functional capacity along with regaining control over their musculoskeletal symptoms. By discharge, participants are expected to be independent in their exercise routines and to demonstrate good body mechanics in activities of daily living and perform at a higher level of function. Iris is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association in the orthopedic section as well as a member of the McKenzie institute USA.
